Pitman Arm
a. Removal (fig. 2-207).
(1) Remove the nut and lockwasher securing
the pitman arm to the left end of the pitman arm
shaft.
( 2 ) Pull the pitman arm from the shaft.
(3) Disconnect the rear end of the upper drag
link from the pitman arm ball stud (para 2-218).
(3) Using a puller (fig. 2-206), remove the
steering wheel from the steering shaft.
b. Installation (fig. 2-207).
(1) Connect the rear of the upper drag link to
t h e pitman arm ball stud (para 2-218).
( 2 ) Set the front wheels in a straightahead
p o s i t i o n , and set the steering wheel in the mid-
position.
(3) Position the pit man arm on the splined
shaft with the arm pointing uplward.
(4) Push the pitman arm onto the shaft until
the nut can be installed on the threaded end of the
shaft.
b. Installation.
(3) Install the lockwasher and nut on the shaft
