Using arbor press, install two bearings (6) on worm gear shaft (3).

Place worm gear shaft (3) and bearings (5) in bottom of gearcase (1). Do not install in gearcase (1) at

this time.
NOTE
Keyway end of worm gear shaft must extend from the marked side
of gearcase.
Position drum shaft and gear (4) in gearcase (1).

Install worm gear shaft (3) and bearings (5) in gearcase (1). Tap shaft (3) with soft-faced hammer

until bearings (6) are flush with gearcase (1) and worm gear (2) meshes with gear (4).
Using sealing compound, coat outside diameter of new brake housing seal (6) and install in gearcase (1).
13.
Coat new gasket (7) with light film of GM grease and position on gearcase (1).

Matching alignment marks, install brake housing (8) on gearcase (1) with four new lockwashers (10)
15.
and screws (9).
Place woodruff key (11) in worm gear shaft (3).
16.
Align brake drum (12) with key (13) on worm gear shaft (3) and install with washer (14), new

lockwasher (16), and screw (16).
