NOTE
Coat outside diameter of seals with sealing compound before
assembly.
1.
Install new oil seals (13) and (15) in end frame (4).
2.
Insert shifter shaft (9) through seal (15) and then install new woodruff key (8) in shifter shaft (9).
3.
Position shifter fork (14) in end frame (4) on shifter shaft (9) and install shifter lever ball (12) and
spring (11) in handle of shifter shaft (9).
4.
Install setscrew (19) into shifter fork (14) and shifter shaft (9).
5.
Install pipe plug (18) on end frame (4).
6.
Coat threads of nut (22) with sealing compound and install poppet spring assembly (7) on end
frame (4) with nut (22), latch (21), and two nuts (20).
7.
Install bearing sleeve (2) in end frame (4).
8.
Install drag brake (10) and spring (16) in end frame (4) with screw (17). Install screw (17) all
the way in (adjustment of drag brake (10) is made after winch is installed on vehicle). Refer
to para. 3-324.
