TM 9-2320-272-24-2
Table 4-1. Mechanical Troubleshooting (Contd).
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Step 2. Perform malfunction 59, step 2.
Step 3. If hydraulic system oil temperature is greater than 32F (0C), proceed to step 5.
Step 4. If hydraulic system oil temperature is 32F (0C) or colder, start engine, engage PTO
(TM 9-2320-272-10), and allow hydraulic oil to circulate 15 minutes with winch
control in neutral position, and proceed to step 5.
Step 5. Start engine and set idle at 800 rpm (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Step 6. Engage PTO and winch lever in the wind position (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Step 7. Record pressure and flow readings.
Normal readings:
Flow rate - 5 gpm (18.9 Lpm) or greater.
Pressure - 1,650-1,850 psi (11,377-12,756 kPa).
a. If readings are normal, go to step 10.
b. If reading is less than 1,850 psi (12,756 kPa), and flow rate is less than 5 gpm
(18.9 Lpm), proceed to step 8.
c. If pressure is greater than 1,850 psi (12,756 kPa), go to step 10.
d. If pressure is less than 1,650 psi (11,377 kPa), replace hydraulic control valve (para. 4-201).
Step 8. Perform malfunction 59, step 8.
Step 9. Check pump suction line for restrictions. If no restrictions are present, replace hydraulic
pump (para. 4-176).
Step 10. Check lines between control valve and reservoir for restrictions. If no restrictions are
present, replace control valve (para. 4-178).
Step 11. Check winch motor lines for restrictions. If no restrictions are present, replace control valve
(para. 4-178).
