Table 4-1. Mechanical Troubleshooting (Contd).
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
e.
If pressure being delivered to pressure switch is 5 psi (34 kPa) or greater, replace
pressure switch (para. 3-138). Recheck boom relief pressure (step 11).
f. If flow rate is less than 65 gpm (246 Lpm), replace transmission solenoid valve
(para. 4-80). Recheck flow rate (step 11). If flow rate is less than 65 gpm (246 Lpm),
replace hydraulic pump (para. 4-176).
g. If flow rate is normal, proceed to steps 16 and 17.
h. Remove pressure gauge (4), reducer (5), and hose (1) from tee (3).
i. Connect hose (2) to tee (3).
Step 14. Check boom relief pressure (step 11) and adjust as required (para. 4-204).
a. If boom relief pressure is lowered, check flow rate (step 11).
b. If flow rate is 65 gpm (246 Lpm) or greater, perform malfunctions 56 through 59 as required.
c . If flow rate is less than 65 gpm (246 Lpm), perform step 12.
d. If boom pressure cannot be lowered, check for restrictions in reservoir return line.
e. If no restrictions are found, replace boom control valve (para. 4-204). Recheck boom
relief pressure (step 11).
f. If restrictions are found, clear restrictions. Recheck boom relief pressure (step 11).
Step 15. Check boom relief pressure (step 11) and adjust as required (para. 4-204).
a. If boom relief pressure can be raised, perform malfunction 60, steps 16 and 17.
b. If boom pressure cannot be raised, remove flowmeter and pressure gauge from boom
control valve (steps 16 and 17).
c. Install pressure gauge on rear winch control valve (step 18), and check pressure at rear
winch control valve (step 19).
Step 16. Remove flowmeter.
NOTE
Ensure engine is off.
a. Remove adapter (9) from tee (10) and reducer (11).
b. Remove reducer (11), elbow (12), flowmeter (8), reducer (14), and connector (7) from hose
assembly (6).
c. Remove hose assembly (6) from rear winch control valve elbow (13).
