Steering assist cylinder stone shield removed
Two O-rings (Appendix D. Item 437)
Cap and plug set (Appendix C, Item 14)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Antiseize tape (Appendix C, Item 72)
Do not start engine when steering hoses are
disconnected.
WARNING
Do not start engine when steering hoses are disconnected.
Pressure may whip hoses, causing injury to personnel.
a. Removal
CAUTION
Cap or plug all openings immediately after disconnecting lines and
steering system damage.
NOTE
Have container ready to catch hydraulic oil.
Tag all hydraulic lines and hoses for installation.
1.
Remove nut (5), screw (13), and retaining strap (4) from pump return hose (3) and return tube (6).
2.
Loosen two hose clamps (2) and remove pump return hose (3) from pump nozzle (1) and return tube (6).
3.
Disconnect pump return tube (6) from steering gear adapter (7).
4.
Disconnect pump pressure hose (12) from pump adapter (14) and steering gear adapter elbow (11).
5.
Remove adapter (7) and O-ring (8) from steering gear (9). Discard O-ring (8).
6.
Remove adapter elbow (11) and O-ring (10) from steering gear (9). Discard O-ring (10).
b. Installation
NOTE
Do not reuse hydraulic oil.
Remove all cap and plugs prior to removal.
1.
Install
new O-ring (10) and steering gear adapter elbow (11) on steering gear (9).
2.
Install
new O-ring (8) and steering gear adapter (7) on steering gear (9).
NOTE
Do not slide more than 1 in. (25.4 mm) of return hose onto return
tube.
3.
Install
pump return hose (3) on pump nozzle (1) and return tube (6) with two hose clamps (2).
4.
Install
pump pressure hose (12) on pump adapter (14) and elbow (11).
5.
Install
hose retaining strap (4) on hoses (3) and (6) with screw (13) and nut (5).
