Steering assist cylinder stone shield removed
O-ring (Appendix D, Item 437)
Cap and plug set (Appendix D, Item 14)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Antiseize tape (Appendix C, Item 72)
Do not start engine when steering hoses are
disconnected.
WARNING
Do not start engine when steering hoses are disconnected.
Pressure may whip hoses, causing injury to personnel.
CAUTION
Cap or plug all openings immediately after disconnecting
hydraulic lines and hoses to prevent contamination. Failure to do
so may result in damage to steering system.
1.
Remove nut (13), screw (12), and retaining strap (4) from pump return hose (3) and return
tube (5).
NOTE
Have container ready to catch hydraulic oil.
2.
Loosen two hose clamps (2) and remove pump return hose (3) from pump nozzle (1) and return
tube (5).
3.
Disconnect pump return tube (5) from steering gear adapter (6).
4.
Disconnect pump pressure hose (11) from pump adapter (14) and steering gear adapter elbow (10).
5.
Remove adapter (6) from steering gear (7).
6.
Remove elbow (10) and O-ring (8) from steering gear (7). Discard O-ring (8).
b. Installation
NOTE
Do not reuse hydraulic oil.
Remove all cap and plugs prior to installation.
1.
Install new O-ring (8) and elbow (10) on steering gear (7). Tighten jamnut (9) until new O-ring (8)
seats.
2.
Wrap male pipe threads of steering gear adapter (6) with antiseize tape and install on steering gear (7).
3.
Install pump return tube (5) on adapter (6).
