General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
EQUIPMENT CONDITION
MATERIALS/PARTS
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Hood raised and secured (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Filter element kit (Appendix D, Item 123)
Left splash shield removed (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Crocus cloth (Appendix C, Item 20)
NOTE
Have container ready to catch hydraulic fluid.
a. Filter Removal
1.
Loosen clamp (17) and remove hose (18) from tube (16).
2.
Remove wing nut (4), washer (5), gasket (3), lid (2), and gasket (1) from stud (6) and reservoir (12).
Discard gaskets (3) and (1).
3.
Remove spring (21), filter cap (20), filter (19), and packing (7) from stud (6) and reservoir (12).
Discard filter (19) and packing (7).
b. Reservoir Removal
1.
Remove stud (6) and valve (8) from plate (11).
2.
Remove two screws (9), lockwashers (10), plate (11), and reservoir (12) from power steering
pump (15). Discard lockwashers (10).
3.
Remove gaskets (13) and (14) from power steering pump (15). Discard gaskets (13) and (14).
c. Cleaning
Clean inside of reservoir (12) with crocus cloth.
d. Reservoir Installation
1.
Install new gaskets (13) and (14) on power steering pump (15).
2.
Install reservoir (12) and plate (11) on power steering pump (15) with two new lockwashers (10) and
screws (9).
3.
Install valve (8) and stud (6) on plate (11).
e. Filter Installation
1.
Install new packing (7), new filter (19), filter cap (20), and spring (21) on stud (6) and reservoir (12).
2.
Install new gasket (1), lid (2), and new gasket (3) on stud (6) and reservoir (12) with washer (5) and
wing nut (4).
3.
Install hose (18) on tube (16) with clamp (17).
