Inspect piston (3) for cracks, breaks, chipped seal grooves (2), and damaged threads. Replace

CAUTION
Do not disturb adjusting nut remaining in piston. Centering
ability of valve will be lost.
Inspect valve bore (1) in piston (3) for pitting and scoring. Replace piston (3) if valve bore (1) is

pitted or scored.
WARNING
Compressed air source will not exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). When
cleaning with compressed air, eyeshields must be worn. Failure to
wear eyeshields may result in injury to personnel.
Inspect oil passages in valve bore (1) for blockage. Clean oil passages with compressed air or soft

wire if blocked.
Inspect valve (4) for cracks, breaks, burrs, chipped lands, and chipped or damaged threads. Replace

valve (4) if lands are broken or chipped, or threads are damage.
Inspect two bearings (5) (TM 9-214). Replace bearings (5) if bearings fail inspection.

Inspect cylinder head (8), bearing cap (6), and output shaft cover (7) for cracks, breaks, and damage

than minor nicks and burrs.
Inspect spring (9) for bent or kinked coils, broken check ball ends, and discoloration. Replace
