GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
l Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do

a. Removal
1.
Remove cotter pin (5), pin (7), and shift rod (6) from shift lever (2). Discard cotter pin (5).
2.
Remove cotter pin (4), washer (3), pin (8), and shift lever (2) from shift lever bracket (9). Discard
cotter pin (4).
b. Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near open
flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby when solvents
are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear protective
clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved container.
Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel and/or damage
to equipment.

Clean shift lever (2) with drycleaning solvent.
Inspect shift lever (2) for cracks and breaks. Replace shift lever (2) if cracked or broken.

Inspect shift lever bushing (1) for cracks, breaks, and pits. Remove pits with crocus cloth. Replace
shift lever bushing (1) if cracked or broken.
NOTE
Perform steps 4 and 5 if bushing requires replacement.
4.
Using arbor press, remove bushing (1) from shift lever (2). Discard bushing (1).
5.
Using arbor press, install new bushing (1) on shift lever (2).
c. Installation
1.
Install shift lever (2) on shift lever bracket (9) with pin (8), washer (3), and new cotter pin (4).
2.
Install shift rod (6) on shift lever (2) with pin (7) and new cotter pin (5).
