GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
MATERIALS/PARTS
Do not disconnect air lines before draining air
reservoirs.
Antiseize tape (Appendix C, Item 72)

WARNING
Do not disconnect air lines before draining air reservoirs. Small
parts under pressure may shoot out with high velocity, causing
injury to personnel.
a. Removal
1.
Remove air line (2) and elbow (1) from air cylinder cover (3).
2.
Bend tabs of locking washers (11) away from heads of screws (10).
3.
Remove four screws (10), locking washers (11), air cylinder cover (3), air cylinder (8), and seal (6)
from transfer case (4).
4.
Remove washers (5) and (9) from transfer case (4) and air cylinder cover (3).
5.
Remove plunger (7) from air cylinder (8).
b. Installation
1.
Install plunger (7) in air cylinder (8).
2.
Install washers (5) and (9) on transfer case (4) and air cylinder cover (3).
3.
Install seal (6), air cylinder (8), and air cylinder cover (3) on transfer case (4) with four locking
washers (11) and screws (10). Tighten screws (10) 6-10 lb-ft (8-14 Nm).

4.
Bend tabs of locking washers (11) over heads of screws (10).
NOTE
Wrap all male threads with antiseize tape before installation.
5.
Install elbow (1) and air line (2) on air cylinder cover (3).
