Operate lever on injector nozzle tester to obtain a constant pressure of 290 psi (1,999 kpa).

Check fuel injector (2) for diesel fuel leakage for approximately 10 seconds.

If diesel fuel leakage occurs, replace fuel injector (2).
Chatter/spray pattern test indicates ability of needle valve to move
freely and to correctly atomize the fuel. Chatter is caused by the
needle valve opening and closing under specific circumstances.
Used injectors should not be evaluated for chatter at lower
speeds. A used injector can be used if it passes the leak test,
opening pressure test, and has a uniform spray pattern.
Operate lever at approximately three strokes per second. Fuel injector (2) must eject a uniform and
well-atomized spray from four nozzle spray holes (4). If proper spray pattern is not obtained, replace fuel
injector (2).
