b. Disassembly
Remove shaft retaining setscrew (8) from rocker lever housing (9).

CAUTION
When removing rocker lever shaft, center the brass drift and
lightly tap on shaft. Striking the housing or levers will cause
damage.
NOTE
l Mark locations of rocker levers for proper installation during
assembly.
l Mark direction of rocker lever shaft for proper installation
during assembly.
Remove rocker lever shaft (7) from rocker lever housing (9) with brass drift.

Remove two O-rings (6) from rocker lever shaft (7). Discard O-rings (6).

Remove two exhaust rocker levers (3), injector rocker levers (4), and intake rocker levers (5) from

rocker lever housing (9).
Remove six rocker lever adjusting screws (2) and nuts (1) from rocker levers (3), (4), and (5).

c. Cleaning and Inspection
Clean rocker lever bushings (13) and inspect for cracks and pitting. Discard bushing (13) if pitted or

cracked.
Measure inner diameter of rocker lever bushings (13) at several points. Replace rocker lever

bushings (13) if inner diameter exceeds 1.129 in. (28.66 mm).
NOTE
Steps 3 and 4 are performed only if bushings are to be replaced.
Using arbor press and mandrel, remove rocker lever bushings (13).

CAUTION
Ensure new bushing oil holes are properly aligned to oil passages
in rocker levers. Failure to do so will cause lubrication failure and
severe engine damage.
Using arbor press and mandrel, install new rocker lever bushings (13) in rocker levers (3), (4),

and (5). Ensure oil holes (12) are aligned with rocker lever oil passages (14).
Clean intake rocker lever (5), exhaust rocker lever (3), and injector rocker lever (4), and inspect for

breaks, cracks, and plugged oil passages. Replace if broken, cracked, or if oil passages (14) are
plugged.
Coat new injector link (11) ball end with Prussian blue and place ball end into socket seat (10) of

injector rocker lever (4).
Using hand pressure, rotate injector link (11) and check socket seat (10) wear area. If socket seat (10)

wear area is not 80 percent blued, replace socket seat (10).
