e. Installation
CAUTION
Before installation, ensure cam follower bushing levers have

been lubricated (para. 2-18).
l If old cam follower housing assemblies are being installed,
ensure they are installed in the same location from which they
were removed.
NOTE
Cam follower housings are mounted with screw-assembled
lockwashers on late model engines.
Check recorded measurements of cam follower housing gaskets (3) removed from engine block (2).

Measurements should be 0.014-0.125 in. (0.36-3.2 mm).
Measure new cam follower housing gaskets (3) to ensure they measure exact thickness of originals.

Position cam follower housing gaskets (3) on engine block (2) with seals facing outward over dowels (1).

Position cam follower assembly (4) on cam follower housing gasket (3) over dowels (1) and seat
against engine block (2). Lightly tap cam follower assembly (4) with soft-faced hammer.
NOTE
Installation of fuel line brackets is only required for No. 2-3 cam
follower housing.
5.
Install fuel line bracket (6) and six new screw-assembled lockwashers (5) on cam follower assembly (4).
6.
Tighten screw-assembled lockwashers (5) 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) in sequence shown.
7.
Tighten screw-assembled lockwashers (5) 30-35 lb-ft (41-48 Nm) in sequence shown.
