c. Assembly
1.
Install grease fitting (6) on slip yoke (5).
NOTE
Soak new felt washer in lubricating oil prior to installation.
2.
Slide new dust cap (2), new nylon washer (3), new felt washer (4), and slip yoke (5) over propeller
shaft splines (1).
3.
Install nylon washer (3) and felt washer (4) in dust cap (2).
4.
Install dust cap (2) on slip yoke (5).
5.
Place propeller shaft (14) in soft-jawed vise.
6.
Install grease fitting (12) on universal joint (9).
NOTE
l Lubricate new or used universal joint before assembly.
l Press bearing cups into yoke far enough to install lockrings.
7.
Place universal joint (9) in propeller shaft yoke (7).
8.
Install two bearing cups (8) on universal joint (9) and end yoke (13) with two lockrings (10).
9.
Install two bearing cups (11) on universal joint (9) and propeller shaft yoke (7) with two
lockrings (10).
10.
Remove propeller shaft (14) from soft-jawed vise.
