Install two new O-rings (2) and new seal rings (1) on valve sleeve (3).

Coat end of valve sleeve (3) with GM grease and install thrust washer (5) on sleeve (3).

Install thrust washer (5) and sleeve (3) into valve housing (4). Valve sleeve (3) should be

approximately 0.40 in. (10 mm) in from face of valve housing (4).
Position valve sleeve (3) in valve housing (4) so alignment marks (6) are aligned.

CAUTION
Alignment marks are located on valve sleeve, wormshaft, and
valve housing so they can be assembled in their original position.
Failure to align marks may cause damage to steering gear.
Position valve housing (4) on wormshaft (7).

Using a 12-point box-end wrench at an angle, rotate wormshaft (7) as needed to align marks (8) on

wormshaft (7) and valve housing (4).
Install valve housing (4) on gear housing (9) with four screws (10). Tighten screws (10) 105-115 lb-ft

(142-156 Nm).
