4.
Remove seven locknuts (13), washers (2), screws (1), and washers (2) from cab protector (3) and
dump body (14). Discard locknuts (13).
5.
Remove eight locknuts (7), washers (6), and screws (11) from cab protector (3) and two dump body
extension brackets (12). Dircard locknuts (7).
6.
Remove four locknuts (4), washers (5), and two screws (9) and (10) from cab protector (3) and dump
body side support channel (8). Discard locknuts (4).
WARNING
All personnel must stand clear during lifting operations. A
snapped cable, or swinging or shifting load, may result in injury or
death to personnel.
7.
Remove cab protector (3) from two dump body extension brackets (12) and position on four shop
stands.
8.
Remove lifting device and utility chains from cab protector (3).
9.
Remove two nuts (16), washers (17), and eyebolts (19) from holes (18) in cab protector (3).
b. Inspection and Repair
1.
Insect cab protector (3) for breaks, dents, and rust. If breaks, dents, and rusted-through areas are
found, repair (TM 9-237).
2.
Clean and paint as neceesary (TM 43-0139).
c. Installation
1.
Install two eyebolts (19) into rear holes (18) of cab protector (3) with two washers (17) and nuts (16).
2.
Attach two utility chains to eyebolts and opposite ends of cab protector front support channel (15).
NOTE
Mechanic will direct hoisting operation while assistant operates
lifting device.
Attach lifting device to center of two utility chains and remove slack from utility chain.
3.
WARNING
All personnel must stand clear during lifting operations. A
snapped cable, or swinging or shifting load, may result in injury or
death to personnel.

Remove cab protector (3) from four shop stands and position on two dump body extension brackets (12).
Using a drift pin, align mounting holes and install cab protector (3) on two dump body extension

brackets (12) with eight screws (11), washers (6), and locknuts (7).
4.
Install cab protector (3) on left and right dump body side support channel (8) with two screws (9)
and (10), four washers (5), and locknuts (4).
Install cab protector (3) on dump body (14) with seven washers (2), screws (1), washers (2), and

locknuta (13).
Remove lifting device and utility chains from cab protector (3).

Remove two nuts (16), washers (17), and eyebolts (19) from holes (18) in cab protector (3).
