c. Installation
WARNING
Lifting device must have a weight capacity greater than the
l
combined weight of the dump body to prevent injury or death to
personnel and damage to equipment.
l Ensure dump control lever is in the NEUTRAL position and has
not moved. Injury to personnel may result if lift cylinder is
operated when not secured.
1.
Wrap two utility chains around dump body (1) and fasten hooks over utility chains.
2.
Attach lifting device to center of utility chains.
3.
Connect two guide lines to front and rear of body (1).
WARNING
All personnel must stand clear during lifting operations. A
snapped cable, or swinging or shifting load, may result in injury or
death to personnel.
NOTE
l Mechanic will handle one guide line and direct hoisting
operation. Assistant will handle other guide line. Second
assistant will operate lifting device.
l Steps 4 and 7 through 9 apply to both left and right sides.
4.
Install six screws (11) on left and right sides of dump body (1).
5.
Hoist dump body (1) clear of shop stand.
6.
Place dump body (1) on subframe (2).
7.
Install two brackets (3) on six screws (11) with six locknuts (10). Tighten locknuts (10) 240 lb-ft
(325 Nm).
8.
Install screw (14), washer (13), and locknut (12) on each bracket (3). Tighten locknut (12) 35 lb-ft
(48 Nm).
9.
Align roller arms (9) and thrust plates (5) and install thrust plate pin (7).
10.
Remove lifting device, utility chains, and guide lines from dump body (1).
WARNING
Never work under dump body until safety braces are properly
positioned. Injury to personnel may result if dump body suddenly
lowers.
11.
Place dump body (1) in raised position (TM 9-2320-272-10).
12.
Place safety braces (4) in proper position (TM 9-2320-272-10).
NOTE
Step 13 applies to both left and right thrust plates.
13.
Install thrust plate pin (7) on thrust plate (5) with screw (8) and locknut (6). Tighten locknut (6)
35 lb-ft (48 Nm).
