Using dial indicator gauge, measure end play of driveshaft (3). Note end play measurement for
reference.

Remove screw (11) and washer (12) from driveshaft (3).

Using arbor press and mandrel, press driveshaft (3) through coupling halfshaft (10).
4.
Remove driveshaft (3), drive gear (l), thrust washers (5) and (8), and washer (9) from accessory
drive housing (7) and slide through bushing (6) in accessory drive housing (7).
5.
Using arbor press and mandrel, press driveshaft (3) through drive gear (1).
NOTE
Do not remove dowel pins unless damaged.
6.
Remove dowel pins (2) and (4) from driveshaft (3).
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near
open flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby when
solvents are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear
protective clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved
container. Failure to do this may result in injury or death to
personnel and/or damage to equipment.
Eyeshields must be worn when cleaning with compressed air.
Compressed air source will not exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Failure
to do so may result in injury to personnel.

Clean accessory drive housing (7) with drycleaning solvent and blow out passages and bore with
compressed air,

Inspect accessory drive housing (7) for breaks and cracks. Replace if broken or cracked.
Inspect bushing (6) on accessory drive housing (7) for pitting, galling, and cracks. Replace

bushing (6) if pitted, galled, or cracked.
Check inside diameter of bushing (6) at both ends. Replace bushing (6) if either measurement is

greater than 1.321 in. (33.6 mm).
NOTE
Perform steps 5 and 6 only if bushing must be replaced.

Using arbor press and mandrel, press bushing (6) from accessory drive housing (7).
Using arbor press and mandrel, install new bushing (6) in accessory drive housing (7) flush with face.

Clean driveshaft (3) with drycleaning solvent.

Inspect driveshaft (3) for breaks, cracks, and galling. Replace if broken, cracked, or galled.

Inspect driveshaft (3) for stripped or crossed threads. Repair or replace driveshaft (3) if threads are

Inspect dowel pin holes (13) of driveshaft (3). Discard driveshaft (3) if holes (13) are enlarged.

Using drycleaning solvent, clean drive gear (1) and coupling halfshaft (10).
