O-ring (Appendix D, Item 440)
Grease (Appendix C, Item 28)
Lubricating oil (Appendix C, Item 50)
Crocus cloth (Appendix C, Item 20)
1.
Remove screw (16) and washer (17) from crankshaft flange (18).
2.
Install screw (16) in crankshaft (19) three turns.
3.
Using puller, remove crankshaft flange (18) from crankshaft (19).
4.
Remove screw (16) from crankshaft (19).
NOTE
l Gearcase mounting screws are of different lengths. Tag screws
for installation.
l Gearcase cover is mounted with screw-assembled washers for
late model engines.
5.
Remove screw (6), lockwasher (7), washer (5), and adjusting link (4) from gearcase cover (3). Discard
lockwasher (7).
6.
Remove four screws (12), washers (11), and brace (13) from engine block (1).
7.
Remove fifteen screws (10), lockwashers (9), washers (8), gearcase cover (3), and gasket (2) from
engine block (1). Discard lockwashers (9) and gasket (2).
b. Disassembly
1.
Remove crankshaft seal (14) from gearcase cover (3). Discard crankshaft seal (14).
2.
Remove accessory drive seal (15) from gearcase cover (3). Discard accessory drive seal (15).
