NOTE
Perform steps 16 through 18 to adjust flywheel housing horizontal
runout.
Rotate crankshaft (2) and set dial indicator at point where highest reading was recorded on bore

Set dial indicator to one-half of total highest reading and slightly loosen flywheel housing mounting

Tap flywheel housing (4) opposite dial indicator with soft-faced hammer until dial indicator

reads zero. Tighten nine flywheel housing mounting screws (1) 140-16 lb-ft (190-217 Nm) in
sequence shown.
Reposition dial indicator against flywheel housing face (6).

NOTE
Perform steps 20 through 22 to check total flywheel housing
runout.
Push crankshaft (2) forward to take up end play.

Set dial indicator to zero, rotate crankshaft (2), and read total runout on dial indicator. Total runout

must not exceed 0.068 in. (0.20 mm). If runout is within specifications, flywheel housing (4) is
properly positioned.
Remove dial indicator and dial indicator attachment (5).

NOTE
Perform steps 23 and 24 if dowel pins were removed.
Using drill and reaming fixture, ream dowel pin holes (9) to next oversize.

Install two new dowel pins (7) in flywheel housing (4) and engine block (8). Ensure dowel pins (7)

are even with or 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) below the flywheel housing (4).
