3-428. 100-AMP VOLTAGE REGULATOR REPLACEMENT

INITIAL SETUP:
APPLICABLE MODELS
EQUIPMENT CONDITION
All
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Hood raised and secured (TM 9-2320-272-10).
TOOLS
Right splash shield removed (para. 3-301).
General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
Battery ground cables disconnected (para. 3-126).

a. Removal
NOTE
Tag wires, connectors, and cables for installation.

Disconnect harness connectors (6) and (7) from voltage regulator (8).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 2.

Remove four nuts (5), washers (2), screws (1), washers (2), and voltage regulator (8) from
floorboard (10).

Remove four screws (3), washers (4), and two brackets (9) from voltage regulator (8).
b. Installation
Install two brackets (9) on voltage regulator (8) with four washers (4) and screws (3).

NOTE
Assistant will help with step 2.
Install voltage regulator (8) on floorboard (10) with four washers (2), screws (1), washers (2), and

nuts (5).
Connect harness connectors (6) and (7) to voltage regulator (8).

Connect battery ground cables (para. 3-126).
Start engine (TM 9-2320-272-10).

Check battery generator indicator on instrument panel to ensure it is in green area. If adjustment is

necessary, notify your supervisor.
