General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
MATERIALS/PARTS
Left splash shield removed (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Two O-rings (Appendix D, Item 435)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Two locknuts (Appendix D, Item 313)
Tiedown strap (Appendix D, Item 690)
Do not start engine when power steering hoses are
Cap and plug set (Appendix C, Item 14)
disconnected.
Antiseize tape (Appendix C, Item 72)
WARNING
Do not start engine when power steering hoses are disconnected.
Pressure may whip hoses, causing injury to personnel.
Cap or plug all openings immediately after disconnecting lines
in damage to equipment.

Remove two locknuts (17), screws (4), spacers (5), and four clamps (6) from crossmember (16).
Discard locknuts (17).
NOTE
Have drainage container ready to catch hydraulic oil.
Step 2 applies to Ross steering gears only.
Steps 3, 4, and 5 apply to Sheppard steering gears only.

Loosen nuts (11) and (14) and remove pressure lines (12) and (15) from elbow (13) and adapter (10).

Loosen nuts (25) and (27) and remove pressure lines (12) and (15) from elbows (24) and (26).

Loosen nut (23) and remove elbows (24) and (26) from extension line (22) and elbow (13).
5.
Loosen nut (21) and remove extension line (22) from adapter (10).
6.
Remove adapter (10) and O-ring (9) from steering gear (7). Discard O-ring (9).
7.
Remove elbow (13) and O-ring (8) from steering gear (7). Discard O-ring (8).
8.
Remove tiedown strap (2) from pressure lines (12) and (15). Discard tiedown strap (2).
9.
Loosen two nuts (18) and disconnect pressure lines (12) and (15) from two elbows (3).
10.
Disconnect two hoses (19) from elbows (3).
11.
Remove two nuts (20) and elbows (3) from frame rail (1).
