3-239. STEERING GEAR-TO-ASSIST CYLINDER PRESSURE LINES REPLACEMENT (Contd)
b. Installation
NOTE
Remove all caps and plugs prior to installation.
Fittings must be cleaned and inspected for cracks or stripped
threads.
Male pipe threads must be wrapped with antiseize tape before
installation.
Do not reuse hydraulic oil.
1.
Install new O-ring (8) and elbow (13) on steering gear (7), with opening of elbow (13) facing down.
Install new O-ring (9) and adapter (10) on steering gear (7).

NOTE
Steps 3 through 5 apply to Sheppard steering gears only.
Install extension line (22) on adapter (10) and tighten nut (211.
3.
Install elbows (24) and (26) on extension line (22) and elbow (13) and tighten nut (23).
4.
Install pressure lines (12) and (15) on elbows (24) and (26) and tighten nuts (25) and (27).
5.
Install two elbows (3) on frame rail (1) with two nuts (20).
6.
Connect two hoses (19) to elbows (3).
7.
Connect pressure lines (12) and (15) to elbows (3) and tighten nuts (18).

NOTE
Steps 9 through 11 apply to Ross steering gears only.
Install new O-ring (8) and elbow (13) on steering gear (7).
9.
Install new O-ring (9) and adapter (10) on steering gear (7).
10.
Connect pressure lines (12) and (15) to elbow (13) and adapter (10) and tighten nuts (11) and (14).
11.
Install new tiedown strap (2) on pressure lines (12) and (15).

Install pressure lines (121 and (15) on crossmember (16) with four clamps (6), two spacers (5),

screws (4), and new locknuts (17).
