Two felt washers (Appendix D, Item 112)
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Left side roller removed (for bottom roller repair
GAA grease (Appendix C, Item 28)

Lubricating oil (Appendix C, Item 50)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Drycleaning solvent (Appendix C, Item 71)
Keep fire extinguisher nearby when using
drycleaning solvent.
NOTE
Repair procedures for top and bottom rollers are the same.
1.
Remove two grease fittings (7) from shaft (8).
2.
Remove two screws (10), lockwashers (11), and lockplate (9) from bracket (12). Discard
lockwashers (11).
3.
Remove shaft (8) from roller (6). Thrust washers (3) may fall out.
4.
Remove two grease fittings (2) from tensioner sheave shafts (1).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 5.
5.
Remove roller (6) and, if present, two thrust washers (3) from bracket (12).
6.
Remove two felt washers (4) and bearings (5) from roller (6). Discard felt washers (4).
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near
open flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby
when solvents are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear
protective clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved
container. Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel
and/or damage to equipment.
1.
Clean all roller (6) and shaft (8) components in drycleaning solvent and allow to air-dry.
2.
Inspect shaft (8) for cracks and wear. Measure outer diameter of bearing surfaces. Replace shaft (8)
if cracked or outer diameter is less than 2.245 in. (57.02 mm).
3.
Inspect thrust washers (3) for cracks and wear. Measure thickness. Replace any thrust washers (3)
if cracked or thickness is less than 0.055 in. (1.397 mm).
4.
Inspect bearings (5) (TM 9-214). Replace if damaged.
