4-130. FIFTH WHEEL MAINTENANCE (Contd)
WARNING
All personnel must stand clear during lifting operations. A
swinging or shifting load may cause injury to personnel.
Ensure lifting capacity is greater than weight of fifth wheel
(600 lbs) (272 kg). Failure to do so may result in injury to
personnel or damage to equipment.
Remove fifth wheel housing (1) from workbench.

Position fifth wheel housing (1) on base (5).

Insert two pivot pins (7) through fifth wheel housing (1) and base (5) and install with two retaining
pins (6).
Install two lubrication fittings (8) on fifth wheel housing (1).

Remove lifting device from chain.
21.
Remove two nuts (3), washers (2), screws (4), washers (2), and chain from fifth wheel housing (1).

FOLLOW-ON TASKS:
Install fifth wheel (para. 3-248).
Lubricate fifth wheel (LO 9-2320-272-12).
