General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
l Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
MATERIALS/PARTS
l Hood raised and secured (TM 9-2320-272-10).
l Battery ground cables disconnected (para. 3-126).
Locknut (Appendix D, Item 288)
Locknut (M936/A1/A2) (Appendix D, Item 323)
Lockwasher (Appendix D, Item 360)
Two lockwashers (M931/A1/A2, M932/A1/A2)
(Appendix D, Item 402)
Locknut (M931/A1/A2, M932/A1/A2) (Item 286)
a. Removal
NOTE
Tag wires, cables, and connectors for installation.
1.
Disconnect wire (1) from transmission temperature transmitter (3) and remove from spring tension
tab (2).
2.
Disconnect rear wiring harness connector (5) from front wiring harness plug (4).
NOTE
Perform step 3 for M929/A1/A2, M9301/A1/A2, M931/A1/A2,
M932/A1/A2, and M936/A1/A2 vehicles only.
3.
Disconnect wire (6) from wire (7).
4.
Disconnect wires (8) and (12) from wires (9) and (11) of neutral start switch (10).
