GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Arbor press
When cleaning with compressed air, wear eyeshields
MATERIALS/PARTS
and ensure source does not exceed 30 psi (207 kPa).
Two seals (Appendix D, Item 635)
Snapring (Appendix D, Item 660)
Relief fitting (Appendix D, Item 532)
GM grease (Appendix C, Item 28)
Liquid soap (Appendix C, Item 27)
a. Disassembly
1.
Using a gear puller, remove drive pulley (2) from shaft (1) on water pump body (3).
2.
Using a gear puller, remove water pump impeller (4) from shaft (1) on water pump body (3).
3.
Remove seal (5) from shaft (1). Discard seal (5).
4.
Remove snapring (7) from ring groove (8) inside bore (6). Discard snapring (7).
5.
Using two supporting wood blocks, place water pump body (3) on arbor press with bore (6) facing
down.
6.
Remove shaft. (1) by pressing on impeller end of shaft (1). Press shaft (1) out of bore (6).
7.
Position and clamp a mechanical wedge-type puller between grease grooves (9) on spacer (10) and
remove bearing (8) and spacer (10) from shaft (1).
