Install clutch assembly (7) in soft-jawed vise.

Install spacer (8) on shaft (9).

Install shaft (9) in clutch assembly (7).

Position spacer (6), with cut out facing toward clutch assembly (7), and install in clutch
assembly (7) with washer (5) and new expansion locknut (4). Tighten locknut (4) 65 lb-ft (88 Nm).
CAUTION
O-rings must not be twisted after installation.

Coat new O-rings (2) and (3) with GAA grease and install O-rings (2) and (3) on seal plug (1).
CAUTION
When installing seal plug, use care not to cut or damage O-rings.

Install seal plug (1) in clutch assembly (7). Tighten plug (1) 40 lb-ft (54 Nm).
28.
Install fan drive clutch (para. 3-75).
d. Fan Drive Clutch Operation Check
1.
Start engine (TM 9-2320-272-10) and run until coolant temperature reaches 175-195F (79-91C).
2.
Place a piece of cardboard in front of radiator core until engine temperature reaches 200F (93C). If
fan does not engage when temperature reaches 200F (93C), refer to mechanical troubleshooting.
