General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
MATERIALS/PARTS
Two spring nuts (Appendix D, Item 672)
NOTE
Tag all cables for installation.
a. Removal
Remove screw (15), clamp (3), defrost cable (1), and retaining clip (4) from diverter bracket (6).

Remove cotter pin (16), defrost cable (1), and spring nut (2) from control rod (5). Discard cotter

Remove screw (14), clamp (10), heat control cable (13), and retaining clip (8) from diverter

Remove cotter pin (12), heat control cable (13), and spring nut (11) from control rod (9). Discard

Remove eight screws (23) and pull instrument cluster (22) away from instrument panel (17).

Remove two nuts (19), washers (18), and defrost cable (1) from instrument cluster (22).

Remove heat control cable handle (20), heat control cable (13), defrost cable (1), and defrost control

handle (21) from instrument cluster (22).
b. Installation
Install heat control cable handle (20), heat control cable (13), defrost control handle (21), and defrost

cable (1) on instrument cluster (22) with two washers (18) and nuts (19).
Route cables (1) and (13) to diverter brackets (6) and (7).

Install instrument cluster (22) on instrument panel (17) with eight screws (23).
3.
Push heat control handle (20) and defrost handle (21) in all the way.
4.
Install heat control cable (13) on control rod (9) with new spring nut (11) and new cotter pin (12).

Install heat control cable (13) on diverter bracket (7) with retaining clip (8), clamp (10), and

screw (14).
Install defrost control cable (1) on control rod (5) with new spring nut (2) and new cotter pin (16).

Install defrost control cable (1) on diverter bracket (6) with retaining clip (4), clamp (3), and

screw (15).
