Remove O-rings (3) and (4) from grooves of piston (5). Discard O-rings (3) and (4).

Remove retaining ring (1) and exhaust valve assembly (2) from piston (5)
WARNING
Use caution when performing step 8. Spring tension under O-ring
retainer will release when small retaining ring is removed. Flying
parts may cause injury to personnel.
8.
Remove retaining ring (6), washer (7), O-rings (8) and (9), O-ring retainer (10), spring (11), and valve
retainer (12) from upper exhaust valve (13). Discard upper exhaust valve (13) and O-rings (8) and (9).
b. Cleaning and Inspection
1.
Clean upper piston (5) and valve body (14) with lint-free cloth.
2.
Inspect upper piston (5) and valve body (14) for cracks, breaks, chips, and pitting. Replace entire
brake pedal (treadle) valve if either part is cracked, broken, chipped, or pitted.
NOTE
Using grease supplied with valve repair kit, apply lubricant to all
brake pedal (treadle) valve parts except rubber spring before
assembly.
1.
Position O-rings (9) and (8) on O-ring retainer (10).
2.
Install valve retainer (12), spring (11), O-ring retainer (10), and washer (7) on new upper exhaust
valve (13) with retaining ring (6).
3.
Install exhaust valve assembly (2) in piston (5) with retaining ring (1).
4.
Install O-rings (4) and (3) on piston (5).
