c. Installation
1.
Position steering knuckle (1) on kingpins (5) and (6) with studs (2) facing upward.
Apply GAA grease to bore of upper sleeve (3) and install on upper kingpin (5). Coat mounting flange

with sealing compound.
Install spacer (4) on upper sleeve (3).

Apply GAA grease to bore of lower sleeve (7) and install on steering knuckle (1). Coat mounting

flange with sealing compound.
Apply sealing compound to threads of studs (2).
5.
Install steering knuckle arm (11) on studs (2) with four bushings (20), new lockwashers (8), and

nuts (9). Tighten nuts (9) 155-170 lb-ft (210-231 Nm).
Install grease fitting (10) on steering knuckle arm (11).

Install seal (21) and dust seal plate (24) on steering knuckle (1) with twelve screws (23) and new

lockwire (22).
NOTE
Lower sleeve must be installed with words WHEEL END facing
down.
9.
Apply sealing compound to contact surface of lower plate (12), and install lower plate (13) and seal
guard (17) on steering knuckle (1) with four washers (16) and screws (15). Ensure seal guard (17) is
installed in front two mounting holes. Tighten screws (15) 105-135 lb-ft (142-183 Nm)
10.
Install grease fitting (14) on lower plate (12).
Install two washers (18) and screws (19) on seal guard (17) and steering knuckle (1). Tighten

screws (19) 105-135 lb-ft (142-183 Nm).
12.
Install tie rod (30) on steering knuckle (1) with nut (29). Tighten nut (29) 140-180 lb-ft (190-244 Nm).
