Remove six screws (12) holding thrust cap backup plate (13) to clutch assembly (7), leaving two
screws (12) installed opposite one another.
The piston spring, located between thrust cap and clutch facing, is
under compression and may cause injury to personnel if screws
are not removed as directed below.
Assistant will help with step 9.

While assistant holds down thrust cap backup plate (13), alternately loosen and remove two
remaining screws (12) from thrust cap backup plate (13) and clutch assembly (7). Have assistant
slowly release thrust cap backup plate (13) from clutch assembly (7).
Step 10 is required only if thrust cap fails to release.

Install two screws (12) into opposite sides of thrust cap backup plate (13) and then loosen screws (12)
evenly about halfway. Tap screws (12) gently until backup plate (13) releases, and repeat step 9.
Clutch housing and clutch drive pulley alignment must be marked
for assembly.
11.
Remove thrust cap backup plate (13), spacer (14), clutch drive pulley (15), piston spring (16), and
clutch facing (17) from clutch housing (18).
