General mechanic's tool kit (Appendix E, Item 1)
Turbocharger and coolant lines removed (para. 3-21).
Torque wrench (Appendix E, Item 146)
MATERIALS/PARTS
Six gaskets (Appendix D, Item 196)
Six lockplates (Appendix D, Item 340)
Antiseize compound (Appendix C, Item 10)
a. Removal
1.
Remove screw (1) from bracket (2) and exhaust manifold (3).
2.
Bend tabs of lockplates (5) away from screws (4).
3.
Remove twelve screws (4), six lockplates (5), exhaust manifold (3), and six gaskets (6) from cylinder
head (7). Discard lockplates (5) and gaskets (6).
b. Installation
1.
Position six new gaskets (6) and exhaust manifold (3) on cylinder (7) and install with six new
lockplates (5) and twelve screws (4). Tighten screws (4) 30 lb-ft (41 Nm).
2.
Bend tabs of lockplates (5) against head of screws (4).
3.
Apply antiseize compound to threads of screw (1) and install on bracket (2) and exhaust
manifold (3). Tighten screw (1) 30 lb-ft (41 Nm).
FOLLOW-ON TASK: Install turbocharger and coolant lines (para. 3-21).
