3-464. AIR DRYER AND CHECK VALVE MAINTENANCE (Contd)
b. Disassembly
NOTE
Note location of bracket on air dryer shell for installation.
Remove two nuts (6), lockwashers (5), screws (8), spacers (4), and bracket (7) from air dryer shell (13).

Discard lockwashers (5).
Remove two adapters (3), O-rings (2), and safety valve (1) from shell (13). Discard O-rings (2).

Remove four screws (10), brake valve (9), O-ring (11), and filter (12) from shell (13). Discard

O-ring (11) and filter (12).
c. Cleaning and Inspection
WARNING
Eyeshields must be worn when cleaning with compressed air.
Compressed air source will not exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Failure to
do so may result in injury to personnel.
CAUTION
Do not clean air dryer assembly with liquid solvent. Damage to
internal components may result.
Clean all parts with compressed air and wipe with lint-free cloth.

Inspect shell (13) and brake valve (9) for cracks and stripped threads. Replace shell (13) or brake

d. Assembly
1.
Install new filter (12) in shell (13).
Install new O-ring (11) and brake valve (9) on shell (13) with four screws (10).

NOTE
Wrap all male pipe threads with antiseize tape before installation.
Install safety valve (1), two new O-rings (2), and adapters (3) on shell (13).
3.
Install bracket (7) on shell (13) with two screws (8), spacers (4), new lockwashers (5), and nuts (6).
