WARNING
Wear hand protection when handling cable. Broken wires may
cause injury to personnel.
1.
Place a l-in. (2.54-cm) block of wood between end of swivel hook (1) and hinged roof (2).
2.
Turn turnbuckle (5) on hinged floor (6) counterclockwise to decrease cable tension.
3.
Remove cotter pin (8), pin (10), and cable clevis (9) from drop arm (11). Discard cotter pin (8).
4.
Remove cotter pin (12), pin (13), and upper roller (15) from mounting plate (14). Discard cotter pin (12).
5.
Remove cotter pin (18), pin (20), and lower roller (17) from folding arm (19). Discard cotter pin (18).
6.
Disconnect lower cable end (16) from turnbuckle (5).
7.
Pull cable (4) upward through two cable guides (3) and remove from vehicle.
NOTE
Perform step 1 if installing new counterbalance cable.

Remove eye of turnbuckle (5) from replacement cable end (16).
2.
Thread cable (4) through two cable guides (3) and connect to turnbuckle (5).
3.
Align lower folding arm (19) with holes in comer post (7) and install lower roller (17) on folding
arm (19) with pin (20) and new cotter pin (18). Ensure cable (4) is behind lower roller (17).
4.
Install upper roller (15) on mounting plate (14) with pin (13) and new cotter pin (12). Ensure cable (4)
is behind upper roller (15).
5.
Install cable clevis (9) on drop arm (11) with pin (10) and new cotter pin (8).
6.
Remove block of wood from swivel hook (1) and hinged roof (2).
7.
Adjust cable tension of turnbuckle (5) if necessary (task c.).
