Clean all boom roller parts with drycleaning solvent (para. 2-14).

Inspect roller bearings (7) and rollers (6) for pitting and scoring. Replace bearings (7) or
rollers (6) if pitted or scored.

Inspect boom roller frame (5) and mounting caps (3) for cracks or damaged threads. Replace roller
frame (5) or mounting caps (3) if cracked or threads are damaged
4.
Inspect roller shaft (9) for scoring and breaks. Replace roller shaft (9) if scored or broken.
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near an
open flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby when
solvents are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear
protective clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved
container. Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel
and/or damage to equipment.
Using arbor press, install two roller bearings (7) on rollers (6).

Install two new woodruff keys (8) in roller shaft (9).

Install two rollers (6) with bearings (7) on roller shaft (9).
4.
Position rollers (6) and shaft (9) as an assembly in frame (5).
5.
Position left and right mounting caps (3) over shims (4) on frame (5).
6.
Measure clearance between mounting caps (3) and rollers (6). Clearance should be 0.062-0.125 in.
(1.6-3.2 mm). If clearance is more than above, remove one or more shims (4). If clearance is less
than allowable, add one or more shims (4).
7.
Install left and right mounting caps (3) on frame (5) with eight new lockwashers (2) and screws (1).
Install boom roller (11) on outer boom (10) with six new lockwashers (13) and screws (12).
