WARNING
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near open
flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby when solvents
are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear protective
clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved container.
Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel and/or damage
to equipment.
1.
Steam clean exterior of reservoir (3).
2.
Flush interior of reservoir (3) with drycleaning solvent,
3.
Inspect reservoir (3) for leaks:
a.
Plug all openings in reservoir (3) except for oil gauge (1) and filter screen (2) opening.
b.
Insert air hose in filter (2) inlet and cover opening around air hose.
Coat exterior of reservoir (3) with soapy water.

d.
Apply 6 psi (41 kPa) air pressure for a minimum of two minutes and check for air bubbles
indicating leaks.
Repair defective reservoir (3) if any leaks are found (TM 9-237).
e.
Replace reservoir (3) if leaks cannot be repaired.
1.
Install
two pipe plugs (4) and (7) on reservoir (3).
2.
Install
adapter elbow (8) on reservoir (3).
3.
Install
drainvalve (5) on reservoir (3).
4.
Install
pipe plug (6) in drainvalve (5).
5.
Install
filter screen (2) and oil gauge (1) in reservoir (3).
NOTE
If installing a new hydraulic oil reservoir, perform step 1.
Wrap all male pipe threads with antiseize tape before
installation.
1.
Install drainvalve (5) with pipe plug (6), two pipe plugs (4) and (7), adapter elbow (8), reservoir oil
filter (2), and oil gauge (1) on hydraulic oil reservoir (3).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 2.
2.
Position hydraulic oil reservoir (3) on two reservoir brackets (12).
3.
Position two retaining straps (11) around hydraulic oil reservoir (3) and install with two screws (10)
and new locknuts (9).
4.
Connect hydraulic oil return hose (13) to adapter elbow (8).
