Position tapered end (4) of seal remover over selector shaft (6). Turn seal remover clockwise to
thread into seal (3).

Finger-tighten bolt (5) on seal remover until it cannot be turned by hand. At this point, bolt (5) has
contacted selector shaft (6).
NOTE
Have drainage container ready to catch oil.
4.
Turn square head of bolt (5) until seal (3) slides from bore (2) of transmission housing (1).
5.
Remove seal (3) from seal remover. Discard seal (3).
b. Installation
1.
Apply lubricating oil to bore (2) of transmission housing (1) and selector shaft (6).
2.
Apply a thin coat of sealing compound to outer edge of new seal (3).
3.
Position seal (3) on seal installer with lip of seal (3) facing away from tool.
CAUTION
Use care when installing seal. Lip of seal may split on selector
shaft.
4.
Drive seal (3) into bore (2) of transmission housing (1) until seal (3) seats at counterbore position of
bore (2).
CAUTION
When installing manual control linkage, a metric locknut must be
used. Failure to do so will damage selector shaft.
5.
Install manual control linkage (7) on selector shaft (6) with new locknut (8). Tighten locknut (8)
22-30 lb-ft (30-41 Nlm).
