c. Cleaning and Inspection
1.
For general cleaning instructions, refer to para. 2-14.

Remove backing plate (1) from oil pump housing (4).
NOTE
Mark gerotor planetary position for installation.

Mark word TOP on gerotor planetary (3) and remove from oil pump housing (4)

Inspect gerotor planetary (3) and oil pump housing (4) for damage. If damaged, replace oil
pump (6).
5.
Install gerotor planetary (3) in oil pump housing (4). Ensure word TOP faces upwards.
Using feeler gauge, measure distance between tip of gerotor drive gear (2) and high spot of gerotor

planetary (3). If distance exceeds 0.007 in. (0.1778 mm), replace oil pump (6).
Place straight edge across oil pump housing (4).

Using feeler gauge, measure distance between straight edge and gerotor planetary (3) and drive

gear (2). If distance exceeds 0.005 in. (0. 0.127 mm), replace oil pump (6).
Using feeler gauge, measure distance between gerotor planetary (3) and oil pump housing (4). If

distance exceeds 0.015 in (0.381 mm), replace oil pump (6).
d. Installation
NOTE
Installation of oil pump kit 3802278 is required for early model
engine if inspection required replacement of oil pump.
Perform steps 1 and 2 for early model engine.
Remove plug (13), washer (12), spring (14), and pressure regulator plunger (11) from oil filter

head (10). Discard washer (12) and pressure regulator plunger (11).
Install new pressure regulator plunger (11) and spring (14) in oil filter head (10) with new washer (12)

and plug (13). Tighten plug (13) 60 lb-ft (81 Nm).
CAUTION
Lubricate oil pump with clean engine oil prior to installation.
Failure to do so may cause damage to equipment.
Align idler pin (9) with gear housing bore (8).

Install oil pump (6) on gear housing (7) with four screws (5).
4.
Tighten four screws (5) in the following sequence:

a. Tighten screws (5) 4 lb-ft (5 Nm).
b. Tighten screws (5) 18 lb-ft (24 Nm).
