Inspect narrow part of unloader cap (1) for scoring and excessive wear. Inspect unloader cap (1)
seating surface for distortion, pitting, and excessive wear. If scored, distorted, pitted, or excessively
worn, replace unloader cap (1).
Inspect cylinder head cover (5) and cylinder (6) for cracks, breaks, and bends. Replace cylinder head

cover (5) and/or cylinder head (6) if cracked, broken, or bent.
Inspect valve springs for wear using spring tester and dial gauge.

Replace unloader valve spring (2) if worn past 12.00 lb. (5.4 kg).

Replace intake valve spring (3) if worn past 0.55 lb (0.25 kg).

Replace exhaust valve spring (4) if worn past 8.00 lb. (3.63 kg).
7.
Inspect crankshaft (9) for scratches, scoring, and excessive wear using outside micrometer:
a.
Replace crankshaft (12) if scratched or worn.
b.
Replace crankshaft if journal (10) if worn past 1.871 in. (47.52 mm).
Replace crankshaft if journal (8) if worn past 1.933 in. (49.10 mm).

Replace crankshaft if journal (7) if worn past 1.871 in. (47.52 mm).

Inspect front support (13) for scratches, scoring, and breaks and measure outside diameter of thrust

support flange (11) for wear using outside micrometer. Replace front support (13) if scratched or
broken or if thrust support flange (13) measures less than 1.287 in. (32.69 mm).

Measure thickness of thrust bearing (15). Replace if thickness is less than 0.240 in. (6.10 mm).
10.
Inspect support bearing (12) for scoring, wear, or other damage and measure inside diameter using
micrometer. Replace support bearing (12) if scored, damaged, or inside diameter is more than 1.887
in. (47.69 mm).
11.
Inspect drive gear (14) for wear, scoring, and damage. Replace drive gear (14) if worn, scored, or
damaged.
